What does 925 silver mean and how to recognise real silver

Što znači srebro 925 i kako prepoznati pravo srebro

On quality silver jewellery you will often see the stamp 925. What does it mean and why does it matter when buying jewellery?

What is 925 silver?

925 silver, also known as sterling silver, contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals (usually copper). Pure silver is too soft for jewellery, and the added metals make it stronger and more resistant to bending and scratches.

Why is silver jewellery rhodium plated?

Rhodium is a precious metal from the platinum group. A thin rhodium layer gives jewellery a brighter white shine, slows tarnishing and protects against scratches. All Cubuss jewellery is made of 925 silver with rhodium plating, and some models are also gold plated.

Is 925 silver suitable for sensitive skin?

Most people wear 925 silver without any problems. Rhodium-plated jewellery is even more hypoallergenic because the rhodium creates a protective layer between the skin and the metal.
